ASEAN ABS Engineering Plastics Industry
ABS engineering plastic is a thermoplastic polymer copolymerized from three monomers: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. It is one of the most widely used general-purpose engineering plastics.
It is widely used in sectors such as automotive, home appliances, electronics and electrical equipment, consumer goods, and industrial components.
The upstream raw materials for ABS primarily include acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. The midstream segment involves polypropylene production, where enterprises utilize catalytic polymerization technology to convert propylene into various grades of PP resin. Downstream processing involves manufacturing end products through methods such as injection molding, extrusion, spinning, and blow molding.
ASEAN is a key regional cooperation organization in Southeast Asia. Its eleven member states are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei, and Timor-Leste. With a combined population exceeding 680 million and an aggregate economy surpassing US$3 trillion, the region has become a major hub for global supply chain relocation, manufacturing investment, and consumption growth.
